The Fridtjof Nansen Award for 2007 to Professor Ola M. Johannessen

Founding director of the Nansen Center and professor at Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen Ola M. Johannessen will to day receive the Fridtjof Nansen Award for Prominent Research in Science and Medicine for 2007. He is given the award for his “path-breaking research on dynamic oceanographic processes in the Arctic marginal ice zone”.

The Fridtjof Nansen Award for Prominent Research in Science and Medicine is established by the Fridtjof Nansen Fund and given to a Norwegian scientist who has made scientific contributions at a very high international level. The award ceremony will take place at the 150th years anniversary of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in Oslo on May 3rd 2007.
