Vacancies

The Nansen Center is an international research centre focusing on the marine environment and ocean forecasting, satellite remote sensing and climate studies and modelling. Our scientific staff comprises experts from Professor to Post-docs in the fields of oceanography, meteorology, geo-sciences, mathematics, statistics, computer science and more.

Opportunities for students at Ph.D. and Master level are offered in relation to our research projects or through individual stipends.

Below you find the current open vacancies at the Nansen Center:

Researcher in assimilation of biological data

Job Position:
Researcher
Contact Person(s):
Deadline:
01.10.2016

A 3-year scientist position is open at the Nansen Center for assimilation of chemical and biological data into coupled physical-biogeochemistry ocean models. The goal is to improve marine ecosystem models to provide more reliable information to end users by means of assimilation of both satellite and in-situ measurements. NERSC has developed the TOPAZ modeling and data assimilation system for the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans during the last 15 years.

3 years PhD stipend in satellite oceanography

Job Position:
PhD Student
Contact Person(s):
Deadline:
30.09.2016

The “Ocean and Coastal Remote Sensing” research group at the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NERSC) works on integration of satellite Earth Observation (EO) data with model and in-situ data to study physical and biological ocean processes, including air-sea interactions and ocean variability up to climate scales. This includes near-real-time (NRT) monitoring capabilities, calibration and validation, preparation of results for use in data assimilation, and generation of long time series.

Post-Doctoral scientist in ocean modeling

Job Position:
Post-doc
