New leadership at the Nansen Center

Director Peter M. HauganDirector Peter M. HauganProfessor Peter Mosby Haugan has taken over the position as Director of the Nansen Center from January 1st 2012 after Professor Stein Sandven. Peter M. Haugan has been professor at Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen since 1999, where he also was institute leader from 2003 to 2011. For details see his CV. He continues also in a Professor II position at the Geophysical Institute.

Einar Svendsen has taken over as the Chairman of the Board after Professor Ola M. Johannessen who has after his own wish resigned as the Executive Chairman of the Board of the Nansen Center. Einar Svendsen is Research director at the Institute of Marine Research, for details see his CV.

Caroline Hordvik has been the Director of Finances and Administration since August 15th 2011. She has taken over the position after Bente E. Johannessen, who will continue in part time position as Administrator of the Nansen Scientific Society.

Professor Ola M. Johannessen continues as the Leader of the Nansen Group of research centers and President of the Nansen Scientific Society. The Nansen Scientific Society awards Nansen Fellowships to Post-doc and Ph.D. candidates and coordinates research projects within the Nansen Group. The Nansen Group comprises of Nansen Centers in Bergen, St. Petersburg in Russia, Cochin in India, Beijing in China, Cape Town in South Africa and Dhaka in Bangladesh.
