Photo: Jun Wang.Annual meeting of Nansen-Zhu International Research Center (NZC) was held at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences on November 23rd ,2011. Participants include Dr. Kari Kveseth (Science Chancellor of Norwegian Embassy in Beijing), Prof. Huijun Wang (Director-General of IAP and Director of NZC), Prof. Ola M. Johannessen (Executive chairman of Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center, NERSC), Prof. Peter Haugan (Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen), Profs. Benkui Tan and Haijun Yang (Peking University, PKU), Prof. Daoyi Gong (Beijing Normal University), all staff and students from NZC and students from Department of Atmospheric Science at PKU.
The scientific presentations from the meeting focused on the climate variability and change in Asia, climate teleconnection between East Asia and Arctic/Atlantic, seasonal-interannual scale forecast with statistical model and marine climate.
The NZC is a non-profit joint venture located at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IAP/CAS) in Beijing, China. Representatives from the Chinese and Norwegian authorities formally opened the Nansen-Zhu Centre on 4th November 2003. The Center is based on an Agreement of Understanding between IAP/CAS, NERSC and UoB of 7th August 2001, and a Memorandum of understanding between IAP/CAS, NERSC, UoB and PKU of 5th November 2002.
