Daily Arctic Sea Ice Area

The Nansen Center monitors daily the Arctic Sea ice area using various satellite data sources. The latest satellite data are from 09/07/2010 when the Arctic ice area was 4185600.0 km2. The minimum in 2008 was observed on 09/06 being 4185600.0 km2. For comparison the minimum ice area ever observed in the Arctic was 3293737.4 km2 on 08/07 in year 2009.
