Animation

Based on near real-time daily processing of ocean colour satellite Earth observation data algal bloom and water quality monitoring services are implemented for the North Sea and Skagerak Region. Regional services have also been established for several coatal and off-shore ocean regions.

Near real-time processing of optical and infrared satellite Earth observation data generates daily and  7-days and monthly binned information products for;

  • Chlorophyll concentration (Chl-a)
  • Total suspended matter (TSM)
  • Dissolved Organic matter (CDOM)
  • True colour image (RGB)
  • Sea surface temperature (SST)

The services are developed for use by the aquaculture and fisheries authorities and industry, particularly serving the large Norwegian aquaculture industry.
