Dr. Fridtjof Nansen (1861-1930) was a renown scientist in biology and oceanography, polar explorer, diplomat and humanist - probably he is the internationally most famous Norwegian person ever. Among other, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922 for his humanitarian work helping displaced people.
