The Nansen Center is an international research centre focusing on the marine environment and ocean forecasting, satellite remote sensing and climate studies and modelling. Our scientific staff comprises experts from Professor to Post-docs in the fields of oceanography, meteorology, geo-sciences, mathematics, statistics, computer science and more.

Opportunities for students at Ph.D. and Master level are offered in relation to our research projects or through individual stipends.

Vacancy: Senior scientist in sea ice remote sensing

Satellite remote sensing is a key research activity at NERSC with about 15 scientists working with polar and marine research and applications of satellite Earth observation data. NERSC has been leading many national and international remote sensing projects for more than three decades. It is of strategic importance for the Center to develop satellite based Earth Observation methods to monitor sea ice and other quantities of the marine and cryospheric environment.

Post-Doctoral vacancy in Meteorology/Oceanography

A two-year post-doctoral position (with potential extension) in meteorology/ oceanography is vacant at Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center. The position is in the project The changing Arctic cryosphere: snow and sea-ice impact on prediction and climate over Europe and Asia (SNOWGLACE), funded by the Research Council of Norway.
