Opportunities

The Nansen Center is an international research centre focusing on the marine environment and ocean forecasting, satellite remote sensing and climate studies and modelling. Our scientific staff comprises experts from Professor to Post-docs in the fields of oceanography, meteorology, geo-sciences, mathematics, statistics, computer science and more.

Opportunities for students at Ph.D. and Master level are offered in relation to our research projects or through individual stipends.

A Post Doc or Young Scientist position for 2 years in acoustic oceanography is vacant at the Nansen Center in the research group for Arctic Acoustics and Oceanography. The position is part of the UNDER-ICE: Arctic Ocean under melting ice project funded by the Research Council of Norway. As part of the UNDER-ICE project the group conducts research on physical oceanography and ocean acoustics in the Fram Strait area.

3 year PhD position: Remote sensing of Arctic sea ice.
